Where’s My Elaine?

As the story goes, Willem de Kooning, the 20th Century Abstract Expressionist, while working on a masterpiece would ask his wife Elaine (also a famous artist), “Is it art?”

If she said, “No,” he’d go back to it, working on it until she said, “Yes, it’s art.” That’s when he knew he could stop painting and move on to the next masterpiece.

Well, here I am, literally (?) at the end of my latest journey, standing on the precipice of completing my latest work, Nom de Plume, and I find myself asking, “Is it a book?” Immediately followed by…

“ELAINE! Where are you!? Can I stop writing now?”

“ELAAAAAAAAINE!”
