Smörgåsbord — Season 2 Episode 12

smorgasbord

A smörgåsbord is a Swedish meal consisting of a variety of foods. This episode is filled with various topics, I’m 1/2 Scandinavian, so… it seemed a fitting title for this week’s episode. You know I’m going to talk about the weather, but… what else?

Billie Eilish

I talk about discovering the young entertainer, Billie Eilish. It’s always thrilling for me to stumble upon a new musician to add to my favorites. What does Billie Eilish have to do with writing? She’s a songwriter and a pretty amazing one, too. She’s so incredibly creative and beyond gifted vocally, as an entertainer, and in collaboration with her brother Finneas O’Connell, writing amazing lyrics and music.

I also share my observations about homeschooled kids, which both Billie and Finneas were. I know many people, particularly teachers are against it, but I’ve only seen positive results, especially when it comes to creative kids.

Watch Billie’s documentary The World’s A Little Blurry if you’re unfamiliar with her or her work. If you are and haven’t seen the film, do. You will thank me. I hope so, anyway. You might not enjoy her music or her style, but she’s fascinating.

On Location

I also mention visiting a location in my current WIP A Woman Like Eve, and how fun and almost spiritual it was for me.

I’ve begun reading a book called “You’re Not Old Until You’re Ninety. Best Be Prepared, However,” by Rebecca Latimer who turned 91 while writing the book. I’ll share more information once I finish reading it.

And More…

As if that’s not enough, there’s even more in this episode! That’s why I had no choice but to call it the smörgåsbord episode.
