Random Thoughts of An Indie Author Episode 44

thoughts indie author

In this week’s episode, Random Thoughts of An Indie Author Episode 44, I talk about random topics that pertain to being an author.

In fact, I’ve decided to reformat the podcast a bit to be a little bit more random each week. I’m nearing the end of my WIP A Woman Like Eve first draft and need more focused time devoted to it and not specific podcast topics. So, whatever random thoughts are in my head each week in regard to writing, that’s what I’ll talk about.

Fear

Sometimes throughout each week, I fear I’ve run out of useful information to impart; but, just when I convince myself of it, I find something I believe could use some “discussion.”

I’ve begun making videos of my podcasts, and so far, it seems that they are doing well in the video format. Hard to tell, because I haven’t gotten any feedback, so I’ll just hope for good things.

If you happen upon this blog post and there are no videos (BitChute and Rumbler) posted, there will be. The process is a bit arduous and time-consuming, so it might take me longer to produce them. I don’t want to delay my podcast drop, which is why I may post this blog first, then add the video links the next day, or at least by Sunday(s). You can always go directly to my video channels: BitChute or Rumble.

Random Thoughts

So what random thoughts do I broach? First, I talk about the state of the indie author world in regard to making a living, or not. I refer to an article regarding The Authors Guild report and an article about The Profession of Author in the 21st Century published 2/19/2020. It points out how authors in general, not distinguishing between indie or otherwise, mostly live below the poverty line. This is especially true as other writing gigs that authors often depend on to feed their meager bank accounts have dried up. I talk about some of the reasons this has happened. It might not be the cheeriest of subjects, but if you have a notion of living as a full-time author, you might have an interest in this topic.

I also talk about scheduling writing time and how it compares to other areas of interest, that are not writing-centric, that require regular attention—and, other stuff.
